Here is the project we should all get behind and help!
http://www.usgenweb.org/census/ If we each took a little from any area of
the country and transcribed maybe just one county, just think what a
valuable tool we would all have!

Try the following hyperlink to the above mentioned area:
Census Project Home Page . From
there, click on State Selection pages, and then click on the particular state
in which you are interesed.

I really do think that this is a wonderful idea, however, for the South
Carolina area, the earlier census indexes have already been posted (for the
counties I am most interesed - Old Pendleton District, Anderson Co, Pickens
Co., etc) (Thank you, Mr. Paul R. Sarrett, Jr. !!!! ). I live out of state,
at least for now, but really would love to transcribe any of the yet to be
posted information. My local library (Illinois) has nothing. Upon looking
for printed material on census reports available through sources such as
amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.com for printed versions of the later versions
of South Carolina censuses, I was rather shocked at the prices($200.?!!)
These prices were for entire state records, I assume. If anyone knows of a way
that I might obtain copies for individual counties at lower prices, I would
really appreciate the information. Even if it is an unrelated county, I'd be
happy to help!

By the way, I've been subscribed for a while, but yet to post. Been having to
much fun reading! Somewhere in South Carolina, there must be someone who
wishes to compare notes on Breazeale (any variation!) or Phillips.
