M orginally published in 1897 and republished in 1976 and again in 1976 with a complete index of all individuals listed in the book. On page 117 a reference is made to Catherine D Hammond who had written a short poem? in a receipt book. Mr Chapman writes : " I find two (receipts) signed by Wm. McKie. On one of the pages, written in an elegant female hand, without date: "When this you see remember me though many miles you distant bee---Catherine D Hammond" Mr Chapman is not sure if she was of the Le Roy Hammond or Samuel Hammond family. On Page 337, Mr Chapman refers to Catherine D Hammond as a 'writer of verse, She lived and died perhaps a hundred years ago. The other name I would be interested is SOTROE. The only time I have ever seen this name is in a book, called "Implied Marriages of Barnwell County". Rachel SOTROE married to Jacob Foreman.
