Subject: RE: CARTER/YOUNG - Chesterfield Co. 1840 From: Susan Wilson Date: July 14, 1998 Hi, Betty! Since I was born in Lee County, MS, next door to Pontotoc, perhaps I can give you a little information that might help. Many residents of *Chester* County moved to old Pontotoc County, MS (which was the parent county of Union, Tippah, and Lee, at least in part). So many moved there, in fact, that there is a community called "Chesterville"! You might give a look/see in Chester County, since you can't locate them in Chesterfield. Checking the 1790 census for Chester County (online at the site below, soon to be indexed), I find 5 Carters, 2 Youngs, and 3 Roberts. I realize these are too early for your people, but they could be parents. Maybe? If you have a glimmer that these folks are actually Chester Countians, please stop by the website and post a query! There are several Young queries and at least one Carter query already posted there. Have a look and see if any match!
