44.  DAVID4 CARTER (ISAAC3, GEORGE2, JACOB1) was born February 23, 1834 in 
Georgia, and died June 25, 1912 in Georgia.  He married LUCRETIA HENDERSON, 
daughter of BERRIEN HENDERSON.  She was born May 12, 1845 in Georgia, and 
died August 03, 1926 in Georgia.

Notes for DAVID CARTER:
David Carter was born Feb. 23, 1834, in Appling County, son of Isaac Carter 
(b.1790, Vol.IV). He was married May 11, 1865, to Lucretia Henderson, 
daughter of Berrien Henderson. She was born May 12, 1845, in Ware now 
Pierce County.

Mr. Carter enlisted April 21, 1862, in Co. "B", 54th Georgia Infantry 
Regiment, C.S.A., and served through the war. Returning home after the war 
he soon after married, and later acquired a farm on the north side of Big 
Hurricane Creek, and lived there until his death June 25, 1912. His widow 
died Aug. 3, 1926. They were buried in the cemetery at I 0-mile Creek 
Baptist Church which is located on lands that Mr. Carter gave for the 
church and cemetery, same having been taken off his homeplace. The Carter 
home and farm is now owned and occupied by Mr. Banner Carter.

45.  ELIZABETH4 CARTER (JACOB3, GEORGE2, JACOB1) was born 1839 in Georgia. 
 She married JAMES CORBITT, son of JOHN CORBITT.  He was born 1822 in South 
Carolina, and died 1874 in Georgia.

Notes for JAMES CORBITT:
JAMES CORBITT, son of John Corbitt and grandson of Daniel Corbitt, R. S., 
was born in Barnwell District, South Carolina, in 1822, and emigrated with 
his parents to Ware County, Georgia, about 1828, where he grew up, married, 
and lived most of his life.  He was married in 1842 to Miss Elizabeth 
Carter, daughter of George Carter of Ware County.  She was born October 21, 
1826, in Georgia, and died August 29, 1889, at Live Oak, Florida, and was 
buried in Pine Grove Cemetery near Live Oak.

Shortly after the Civil War, Mr. Corbitt, moved to Florida where he had 
acquired a farm in Suwannee County.
He lived there a few years, then moved back to his farm in Ware County near 
Manor and lived there until his tragic death April 2, 1874.
Daniel Corbitt, grandfather of Mr. Corbitt, was a Revolutionary soldier in 
South Carolina and served in the South Carolina Militia.  He lived and died 
in Barnwell District, South Carolina.  His son John, after marriage there, 
moved to Georgia and became one of the early settlers of Ware county.
James Corbitt served in the State Militia in the Civil War.
James Corbitt was buried at Philadelphia Congregational Methodist Church at 
Manor. William T. James, a neighbor, was appointed administrator of the 
estate.  The appraisement of his estate showed he owned all of lots of land 
320, 321 and 326 containing 490 acres each; the east half of Lot 319; the 
East half of Lot 378; 440 acres of Lot 325, all in the 8th District of Ware 
County, also 93 head of cattle, and other property.

46.  RAIFORD4 CARTER (JACOB3, GEORGE2, JACOB1) was born 1829 in Georgia, 
and died June 19, 1863 in CSA Service.  He married MARY COX, daughter of 
JAMES COX and MARY BEVERLY.  She was born 1830.

Notes for RAIFORD CARTER:
Raiford Carter was born in 1829, a son of Jacob Carter. He was married to 
Mary Cox, born 1830, daughter of Mrs. Mary Beverly Cox and James Fullwood.

Raiford Carter served as a Private in Company "B", 10th Georgia Regiment, 
CSA. He enlisted May 24, 1861. He was transferred to Company "K". 10th 
Georgia Regiment, June 14, 1861. Raiford Carter was wounded December 13, 
1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia, and died of his wounds, June 19, in 
General Hospital #1, Richmond, Virginia. He is buried there in Hollywood 
Cemetery. Raiford's widow, Mary, married George Lee. Sr. before 1870. Her 
children lived with them.

47.  DAVID L.4 CARTER (WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, JACOB1) was born 1812 in Georgia, 
and died Aft. 1889 in Georgia.  He married JANE MCGAULEY, daughter of 
WILLIAM MCGAULEY.  She was born 1812 in South Carolina, and died Abt. 1875 
in Georgia.

Notes for DAVID L. CARTER:
David Carter (in some places the name is written David L. Carter), was born 
in 1812 in Tattnall County, a son of William Carter.  He came with his 
parents to Appling County in 1819, and grew up there and married Miss Jane 
McGauley, born in South Carolina in 1812.

Mr. and Mrs. Carter were members of Ten-mile Baptist Church in Appling 
County, until their deaths.  He was also a deacon of the church.  He and 
his wife are buried in the cemetery at the church; graves unmarked.  He 
died 1880 and she died about 1875.
Mr. Carter was a Justice of Appling Inferior Court, 1865-1866, resigning 
after a year's service.

CARTER, DAVID - VOL. ll: It states that the graves of David Carter and Jane 
(McCauley) Carter were both unmarked, That is uncorrect. There is a marking 
that reads: David Carter, Pvt Co. B, 54th Inf. Ga. CSA, 1812-1880. Jane 
McCauley Carter, 1812-1875.

48.  WILLIAM4 CARTER (WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, JACOB1) was born 1814 in Georgia, 
and died 1864 in CSA Service.  He married MARY ROBESON, daughter of JOHN 
ROBESON and ELIZABETH CARTER.  She was born 1825 in Georgia, and died Abt. 
1890 in Georgia.

Notes for WILLIAM CARTER:
William Carter was born in Tattnall county in 1812, son of William and 
Margaret Carter (Vol.II). He was married in Appling county about 1835 to 
Mary ("Molsy") Roberson (or Robeson), born 1823 in Wayne county, daughter 
of John Robeson

Soon after marriage William Carter moved to Ware county, living there 
several years; he is shown in 1840 census living in the 719th district 
(which territory is now in Echols county). He next moved to near Waresboro, 
where he served as Justice of Peace, 451st district, 1841-44. He was a 
private in Capt. David J. Miller's company of Ware county militia, 1838-42, 
in the Indian War.
About 1845, Mr. Carter and family moved back to Appling county where he 
lived until his death, He served In the militia the last year of the civil 
war, and was killed in the battles around Atlanta in July, 1864. His widow 
survived about twenty-five years and died and was buried in what is now an 
old abandoned cemetery in an old field on the left of the post-road south 
of Ten-mile Baptist Church. She and Mr. Carter were members of Ten-mile 
Church.

49.  GEORGE4 CARTER (WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, JACOB1) was born 1816 in Georgia, 
and died Abt. 1882 in Georgia.  He married SABRA ROBESON, daughter of JOHN 
ROBESON and ELIZABETH CARTER.  She was born 1819 in Georgia.

Notes for GEORGE CARTER:
George Carter of Appling County, was born in 1816 in Tattnall County, a son 
of William Carter (VolI). The family moved to Appling County about a year 
after its creation in 1818, and settlect near the Altahama River. His wife 
was Sabra, born 1819 in Tattnall County, daughter of John Robinson 
(Vol.111).

George Carter lived in Appling County until about 1838 when he moved to 
Ware County for a short stay, but returned to Appling a few years later. He 
served as a private in Capt. N. J. Holton's company of Appling County 
militia in 1838 in the Indian War. He died about 1882.
