98.  ELI W.5 O'QUINN (DAVID4, NANCY3 CRUMMEY, REBECCA2 CARTER, JACOB1) was 
born March 25, 1846 in Appling County, Georgia, and died February 18, 1900 
in Clinch County, Georgia.  He married ELLEN DELIA SMITH, daughter of JAMES 
C. SMITH.  She was born 1849, and died September 01, 1916 in Blackshear, 
Georgia.

Notes for ELI W. O'QUINN:

Eli W. O'Quinn was born March 25, 1846, in Appling County, Georgia. He was 
the first child of David O'Quirm (Vol.11) and his wife, Matilda Higgs, 
daughter of William Higgs (Vol.1) He moved with his parents to Clinch 
County, in 1853. They lived at Magnolia townsite. Eli married Ellen Delia 
Smith, born in 1849, a daughter of James C. Smith (Vol.IV).

These children were double first cousins to the offspring of Eli's brother, 
Hardy (q.v.). Hardy married Mary Smith, sister of Ellen Delia Smith.
Eli O'Quinn was a member of Cassia Lodge, #224. Records indicate that he 
held offices 17 times, these offices being Junior Steward, Senior Steward, 
Senior Warden, Tyler and Secretary. He was Justice of the Peace, 970th 
District, from 1873-1885 and Exo Justice of the Peace from 1885-1898.
Eli W. 0'Quinn died February 18, 1900, age 53. He was buried in Homerville 
Town Cemetery, section one, beside his daughter, Zoe. After his death Mrs. 
Delia O'Quinn married John Cade Jones (q.v.). She was soon widowed the 
second time as John C. Jones died in 1904. She died September 1, 1916 at 
the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Peeples, in Blackshear, Georgia. She 
is also buried in Homerville Town Cemetery.

99.  HARDY A.5 O'QUINN (DAVID4, NANCY3 CRUMMEY, REBECCA2 CARTER, JACOB1) 
was born December 20, 1848 in Appling County, Georgia, and died May 06, 
1925 in Taylor County, Florida.  He married MARY SMITH November 21, 1870 in 
Clinch County, Georgia, daughter of JAMES C. SMITH.  She was born October 
22, 1850, and died August 01, 1932 in Taylor County, Florida.

Notes for HARDY A. O'QUINN:

Hardy Atkinson O'Quinn, a son of David O'Quinn (Vol.11), was born in 
Appling County, Georgia, December 20, 1848. His mother was Matilda Higgs 
O'Quinn, daughter of William Higgs (Vol.I). In 1853 his parents moved to 
Clinch County and located at Magnolia townsite near Homerville. Here he 
grew to manhood. On November 21, 1870 he married Mary Smith, bom October 
22, 1850, a daughter of James C. Smith (Vol.IV).

Hardy O'Quinn lived in Dupont, Homerville, and Boston, Georgia. Most of his 
life he farmed. In 1915, Mr. and Mrs. O'Quinn moved to Perry, Florida where 
three sons lived; C.A. "Gus", a medical doctor; Seward, a dentist; and 
Barney, a pharmacist and owner of O'Quinn Drug Co. While in Perry he was a 
bailiff for the Taylor County Courts. He was a Chapter Mason.
On October 6, 1920, Hardy and Mary Smith O'Quinn, along with M. M. and 
Sarah Smith Caswell, jointly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversaries at 
Blue Springs, Lowndes County, Georgia. These twin sisters had married only 
one month apart. A large number of the descendants of Silas O'Quinn (Vol.1) 
were present at this gathering.
These descendants decided to have a reunion of O'Quinn families near Odum, 
Georgia in 1921. This reunion, currently held each year at Friendship 
Baptist Church near Odum, was an outgrowth of the celebration of these 
golden wedding anniversaries.
Mrs. O'Quinn and her twin sister, Sarah Caswell, in February of 1930, flew 
together in a airplane at Valdosta, Georgia. Tley were one of the oldest 
sets of twins to have flown together at that time. The Atlanta 
Constitution, February 20, 1930, captioned their picture, "Famed as 
Georgia's flying Twins".
Hardy O'Quinn died May 6, 1925. Mary O'Quinn died August 1, 1932. At the 
time of her death, there were 44 living grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. O'Quinn 
are buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, Georgia. They were members of 
the Baptist faith.
At time of writing, August 1, 1988, Mary Jeannette, widow of Seward, is 
living at .100 years of age in Gainesville, Florida.

100.  JOHN HENRY5 O'QUINN (GEORGE WASHINGTON4, NANCY3 CRUMMEY, REBECCA2 
CARTER, JACOB1) was born June 28, 1866 in Wayne County, Georgia, and died 
October 30, 1938 in Patterson, Georgia.  He married MARY ELIZABETH WALKER 
April 26, 1899 in Patterson, Georgia, daughter of DANIEL WALKER and POLLY 
DAVIS.  She was born February 28, 1876 in Pierce County, Georgia, and died 
September 28, 1956 in Patterson, Georgia.

Notes for JOHN HENRY O'QUINN

Dr. John Henry, O'Quinn was born June 28, 1866 in Wayne County near 
Screven, Georgia, the son of George Washington O'Quinn (Vol..VII) and his 
second wife, Ann Brown. After graduating from High School, he
taught at several schools. Later, he graduated from Mercer University at 
Macon, Georgia. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of 
Georgia at Augusta in 1898 and began practice in 1899.
Dr. O'Quinn was married on April 26, 1899 in Patterson to Mary Elizabeth 
Walker, born February 28, 1876, the daughter of Daniel Jackson Walker and 
his wife, Polly Davis (Vol.Vll), all of Pierce County.

While prominent in his profession, Dr. O'Quinn was active in civic and 
business affairs. He was one of the organizers and original directors of 
Ile Patterson Bank. He also had large land holdings and was well-known as a 
farmer. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Order of Masons, the Ware 
County Medical Association, the Georgia Medical Association and the Sigma 
Nu Fraternity. He belonged to the Missionary Baptist Church.
Dr. John Henry O'Quinn had a paralytic stroke in 1922 which left him an 
invalid until he died October 30, 1938. His wife, Mary, died September 28, 
1956. They are buried in the Patterson Cemetery, graves marked.

August 1868 in Georgia, and died Aft. 1920 in Georgia.  He married LINNIE 
SAPP May 01, 1888, daughter of JOHN SAPP and IRENE SPENCE.  She was born 
February 12, 1872, and died March 15, 1915 in Georgia.

Notes for WILLIAM RILEY CARTER:
William "Riley" Carter was born in August of 1868 in Pierce County, Georgia 
He was the son of Jacob H. Carter and Mary (Howard) Carter (q.v.) and the 
grandson of James H. Carter and Jane (Spence) Carter (q.v.). Riley's 
occupation was that of a farmer.
He married Linnie Sapp on May 1, 1888. Linnie was born on February 12, 1872 
and was the daughter of John Sapp and Irene (Spence) Sapp.

The date of the subject's death is presently unknown. He was living in 
Wayne County in 1920. Riley's wife, Linnie (Sapp) Carter, died on March 
15,1915 during childbirth and is buried in the old Ritch Cemetery near 
K-ville, Georgia. It is believed that Riley Carter is buried near his wife 
in an unmarked grave.
