Subject: CARTER, DICKERSON, PETTIGREW From: Ruth Ann Bishop Date: May 16, 2000 I am searching for information on the family of my paternal grandmother, Maggie Mae Dickerson Bishop. I am especially interested i her mother, as she died when my grandmother was age 2, and she has never seen a picture of her mother! My grandmother is 91, and this is one wish I would dearly love to grant to her in return for her love and faithfulness to me. My great-grandmother was born Susie Carter in Fairfield County (DOB 11-3-1878, died 12-1-1911). She married WilliamFranklin Dickerson (9-22-1868--2-24-1960) and they had 4 children who survived: Meador, James Butler, Fannie Belle, and Maggie Mae. Susie died giving birth to a still-born infant. I have been told that Susie's mother died early, also, and that she was reared by her Grandmother Pettigrew (maternal grandmother). There was apparently little contact between the relatives after Susie's death. My grandmother recalls meeting her great-grandmother on only one occasion. The only remembrance that our family has is a beautiful, long lock of dark hair tied with pink ribbon, which my great-grandfather always kept. Susie and her husband are buried at COOL BRANCH BAPTIST CHURCH. They were married at SALEM"S CROSSROADS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
