Subject: Carolina Land Grants Purchased by King George II,1729 From: Robert Monk Date: March 11, 1998 Hello, Around 1660 King Charles II awarded land grants in the Carolina colony to eight subjects, called Lords Proprietors, for their service in support of the restoration of the Monarchy. In 1729 King George II purchased back these grants from the Lords Proprietors or their heirs. I'm searching for information about this buy-back,especially in regard to the heirs of George Henry MONK,Duke of Albemarle. I have reason to believe that one of his heirs was George MONK(MONKE). I would be most grateful for any information that I might add to my family history. Thanks.
