Dr. Carne was a Royalist, was on the Confiscation Lists; he retured to England before June 4, 1767 [note: this date doesn't look right but it is how it appears in the mag] when as Samuel Carne of London he appoints John Rose [married to another Bond daughter, Hester] and Robert Wilson attornies to convey the "Orange Garden." (Probate Court 1763-/67p.700.) He seems to have lived at Danbury, Essex County. Samuel Carne was in the Province by 1746, for on Feb. 17 he advertises in the S.C> Gazette that he has "taken the House wherein Dr. Benj. Hall deceased lived, continues to sell all sorts of cordial Waters at same Rates as the late Doctor." Catherine Carne, widow of Samuel, married 2d about 1793, Bernaby Coffie Merchant.
