I have been slow to tie up some "loose ends" in my own family. My "lost
sheep" is Capt. Joseph Manigault (b. 1826, Charleston?) , son of Joseph
(1801-1829) and Mary Middleton Huger (1802-1831).

According to family notations, Capt. Manigault was briefly on Gen. Lee's
staff (abt. 1862) and in 1863 was in command of the CSA Signal Corps in Ga.
and Fla. He lived on "Shubra" Plantation on the Savannah River, probably
before the war, and also owned "Pennyworth" island in the same area at one
time. I have no information on his marriage status. He may have lived in
Savannah, Ga. as late as 1891.

Can anyone help with this problem?

Edward Manigault
