R. F. CLARTY was a Private in Company A and Company B of the 2nd South
Carolina Infantry Division. I do not have any information on the Artillery
Divisions.

William M. POOLE enlisted as a Private in Company D of the 2nd SC. He was
detailed as a nurse at Charlottesville then appointed Hospital Steward.
Described by surgeon in charge as "Competent, industrious, and thoroughly
acquainted with the responsibilities of the position and of unacceptable
(sic?) moral behavior. He was literate.

Robert W. POOL, son of Caroline and Hampton P. POOL was a brother of Jane,
Nancy and Hampton, Jr. was promoted to Second Sergeant in October 1862.
Mortally wounded at Gettysburg.

Carter Y. POOL, son of Nancy and Jourdin POOL was brother of Sarah, Emily,
Maria and Tench POOL. He enlisted as a Private in Butler Guards but was never
physically able for active service and was discharged because of heart
disease.

Green B. POOL was a tailor in Greenville at the time he enlisted in Butler
Guards.. He was admitted to Orange General Hospital in Virginia on 15 April
1861 with typhoid fever. After returning to duty in Company B in August he
apparently was not fully recovered because he was detailed as baggage guard
through June 1864. He was captured at Farmville, South Carolina and later
paroled.

The BATSON and HOLTZCLAW families were numerous in Upper Greenville County.

Maureen, my wife would very much like to have a copy to that invitation. Do
you have a scanner? If so you could send a copy as an attachment to an e-mail
letter. Claud Eaton
