Claude,

Thank you for that information! I appreciate knowing more about the names on
the invitation... and about the Butler Guards. Do you have any information on
COA 3SCLARTY CSA? I've been told it's Company A, 3rd South Carolina Light
Artillary. I'm in the process of sending out some requests for information
(and sorting through some of my records, thus triggering my earlier posts to
the list.)

I also have another snippet:

It's a rather torn, thin old piece of brown paper. It says:

W.H. Pool has leave of absence untill wednesday the 18th by order of Capt. W.
H. Goodlett, Commanding detail man.

E.N. Coleman
Lieut. Como _____ (the rest is blurred, but looks like : @ arms-mp)
-------------

And another very curious old piece of paper. I'm not sure what it is.

It's blue-grey lined paper, with a fine dark blue ink written in a very pretty
hand:

As I said, the paper seems to have had some significance to have been so
carefully tucked into the Bible...but what? I have no idea.
