Subject: Bunch-Hart History (long) Pt. 2 From: ANNE W WALLACE Date: February 16, 1999 "On March 6, 1845 Mary's son Adger, at the age of 22 years, stole from a party in the Bend of Four HOles Levinia Sarah Ann Bell, the 15 year old daughter of David Bell. Their only child, Martha Adaline Bunch was born 1 Feb 1846. She was married 22 Feb1861 to William S. Hart, son of Hamilton S. Hart and his wife Anna D. Murray. Mary Bunch conveyed to Adger's widow all of Mary's one sixth part in the 224 acres at the settlement of $224.00. This gave Adger's widow the propertynear the 47-mile post then bvounded by the David Way Estate, Lewis Corner, and dr. Gilmore. Adger's widow married 2nd the Rev. West Williams and 3rd Dr. Joseph Murray and the Bunch -Hart home was occupied by the Hart family. A son, David Angus Hart, built on the southeast corner of State Street and the old Hart Avenue (First Street). One child's partnear the Frank Way house was sold to the Way family. Ida married Thojas Singletary and lived at the old settlement until that family moved to Charleston. Mary Lavinia (known to much of Holly HIll as Aunt Minnie) married Michael McKendree Russell (Uncle Mack) and lived near Spring HIll Church on the Gaillard Road in Berkeley County but later moved back to Holly Hill and built on her part of the property the house now owned by Mrs. Bill Brandenburg. Oscie married (Big) John Singletary and moved to the West Williams house site in Berkeley County, selling her part of the Holly Hill propert to Mr. Joe Brownlee. Etta married Sheck Parler and ;moved to the community around Spring HIll Church in Berkeley County. They later returned to Holly Hill an built on her part of the old property on the east side of State Street. Connie Way [deceased] and Hallie Tyson are children from that family. Both sons of William S. Hart and Adaline Hart are buried at Target. Mary Bunch, widow or Laford Bunch, is buried directly behind the church. [Target?] Her marker states that she died 14 July, 1871 and that she was about 93 years old, which would put her birth date in 1778. Her oldest Hart grandchild stated that as a child she could scarcely understand the old lady who was a 'French Huguenot'. Claudine Russell felder, Aline Cross farland, Nancy Russell Bilton and the Neeley Parler familyare descendants who still reside on part of theland bought by Mary Bunch in 1833.
