NATIVE AMERICANS:

Yesterday I found a record of Nancy Brown HARRISON that
states she is the dau. of Moses BROWN and Ann FAIRCHILD, an
Indian. Moses BROWN's was the son of an Indian woman by the
name of Mary McINTOSH and a white man named William BROWN.

This was a statement witnessed and sealed in Charleston, 11
Dec 1833.

I also found records of a Capt John FAIRCHILD, who was a SC
surveyor, ranger captain, and frontier land owner in the
1740's and 1750's, who helped protect the settlers in the
back country from Indians.

Also listed during that same time was a Mr Brown, the
half-breed son of Thomas BROWN, prominent Catawba trader in
the 1730's.

I found a Death Record Index Card on
Nancy HARRISON:
female, negro.
Birth - Chas. SC.
Residence - City Hospital.
Date of Death - July 11, 1901.
Age - 76.
Burial - C.B.G.
Physcian - Dr. H. Baer.
Cause of Death - Nephritis.

I also found the Will of Ann BROWN which mentions her
children: Elizabeth MUSHINGTON, Hannah BROWN, Peter BROWN,
Ann HARRISON, and Isacc A. BROWN.

The Will was dated Nov. 19th, 1826; and witnessed by John
BLOOMFIELD, Martha S. CONNALLY, and M.A. BLOOMFIELD.

The Will was proven Feb. 10th, 1829.

Moses BROWN is listed in the Charleston City Directory:
1807; drum major, 50 King St; Barber Shop, 7 Union St.
1816; shoemaker, 133 Wentworth St.

Nancy HARRISON is located on the 1860 Chas, SC Census; pg.
10.

Moses BROWN is located on the 1840 Beaufort, SC Census; pg.
064.

I have more info on some McINTOSH, HARRISON, and FAIRCHILD
persons in the Chas. area (city directories).

Now, I have all this... and don't know if they are connected
to my (Native American) Matilda HARRISON b. 1865 or not, but
I'm hopeful.
