Subject: Re: Brick Walls, are they permanent?? From: wandajoe Date: January 05, 2001 Hello, all you listers, in the five lists to which I have sent this. I am seeking firm (hopefully, proveable) tie-ins between two sets of DUKE families, and I have not yet found the best one! Thomas DUKE of Fairfield Dist., SC had at least two sons. The ones I am interested in are Robert, b. ca 1880, and his brother, Jeremiah, whose year or date of birth I need, but do not have. These two sons (apparently) moved from SC to Perry Co., Alabama, in the time frame after 1812-'15, and Robert was married in SC in 1820, so he may have arrived in AL. later than Jeremiah. Jeremiah may be the same man as Jeremiah K. DUKE, who married Caroline WOOLLEY in Jan., 1836, and was deceased by mid-1842. I need ratification of his (their, if there really were two Jeremiah's) date of birth, place of birth, and date and place of death. It is most likely he died in Perry Co., because, by the spring-time in 1843, his widow, Caroline, was re-married to a man named Alexander WORRELL, there. Jeremiah and Caroline had two children, the older was Rachel Ann Shunsey DUKE (dob unknown) and Lovick Sherrod DUKE, b. 7-10- 1840. Lovick Is my GGF, and Jeremiah is my GGGF. If Jeremiah K., husband of Caroline is also Jeremiah, son of Thomas of Fairfield, SC, that fact (not yet proven) will resolve the question of having one (or two) 'Jeremiah' men. Naturally, once these questions are resolved fairly well, I need to find the parents of Thomas, IF the Jeremiah names really do identify only one man!! But if the facts prove there are two men with similar names, then where did the 'other' Jeremiah K. originate?? Any help in clearing this mystery off the board is most welcome, and greatly appreciated!! Can you contribute any added information to the data I have shown in this run-down??? Thank you.
