Specific areas or the "entire" state of SC? MM< *********************************** "The Frontier in the Colonial South: South Carolina Backcountry, 1736-1800" by George Lloyd Johnson, Jr. ************************************* The period of time covered is the time period mentioned in the title. As for specific areas, most of the coverage is of the Cheraws/Pee Dee area to Orangeburg area. This was an area that Charleston was trying to get settled to provide a low-country buffer from Indian attacks. The book does not cover the upstate of SC or even the central part of the state such as Columbia. There are some references to the Camden area but no mention of Columbia. If you were to draw a line from Cheraw south to Orangeburg, the area covered would be everything east of there to the Atlantic.
