On my grandparents place at the base of Ouchita Mountains near Mena, AR, there
was also a blue hole on Mill Creek. (I imagine there are many "Mill Creeks",
too.)  It was a spot in the creek bed where the water was deeper than elsewhere
and that was our "swimming hole," too.  I just thought it was called that
because it *looked* bluer than the other water because of the depth.  It looked
very deep and blue and dark to me, but then I was very small, so *anything*
looked big and dark and deep!
