We have significant information on our Blackwell line in TN and MS. We
know they came from SC probably near Georgetown. My 2nd great
grandfather is Rev. Thomas Michael (T.M.) Blackwell, MD. His family
Bible lists the following. What is in quotes is other information that
we know.

Thomas Blackwell married Mary Durham on 5/18/1786. "We think that Thomas
may have been the son of Samuel Blackwell who lived on a plantation near
Cedar Swamp & Black Mingo Creek near Kingstree, SC."

The Bible lists Thomas Blackwell, Jr. "son of Thomas Blackwell and Mary
Durham" married Mary Elizabeth Eliza Gause on 3/5/1812 in SC. "Eliza
died before 1836 because she is mentioned in the will of her father,
John Julius Gause, that year in Brunswich Co., NC. Thomas Blackwell,
Jr. remarried and was living in Lauderdale Co., TN during the Civil War
as was documented in the journal kept by his son, T.M. during the war."

The Bible lists Thomas Michael (T.M.) Blackwell born 2/12/1813 in SC and
married Agnes Lenora Carolina Rice on 3/2/1842 in Lauderdale Co., TN.
and died on 9/8/1865 in Houston, Chickasaw Co., MS. "T.M. was a
Methodist minister and a physician who died shortly after the war ended.

Also in the Bible was an obituary for the Rev. Michael Joseph Blackwell
printed in a Methodist publication in 1869. "We think that he was the
uncle or cousin of T.M.

Any help is appreciated.
