What my primary interest is my greatgrandfather, JOHN MEEKS. He was born 1812 or17 in Pitt Co., NC. I have all his children, etc from that time forward...I cannot find out who were his parents and siblings. I feel he went to GA. with some of his family(bro.,sis, parents?) in the 1800's. He would be 15 in 1827, isn't that the Land Grant time? I believe he was born in NC and I have pictures of Tombstone in NC. What is so strange is that he appeared in 1850 with a wife and one child in the Pitt Co. Census.(wife is Sarah Elizabeth Wainwright). I have the Pitt Co census pages or index for 1701/1769 thru 1900. Henry or Josiah could be his father....going by males ages. Hate to be so wordy but this just thrilled me to get this info. I have some of these names but this is a great gift! I appreciate you doing this. Are you kin to the Meeks? I'll take all the info you are willing to part with...anytime!
