Subject: Benjamin Rufus HODGE- SC>GA-1850's From: Susan Hodge Davis Date: November 06, 1998 From a net site I found last night: Calhoun Co., GA, 1860 census- 113 Hodge, Benjamin R. age 45, m, Farmer, b. SC Milbry, age 45, f, b SC Adaline M., age 18, b SC Benj. M., age 7, b GA Martha E., age 3, b GA Malery, Henry, age 18, m, overseer, b. Georgia I show his name as Benjamin Rufus HODGE. There was also another Benjamin R. but I think his name was Benjamin Rhodus HODGE. Both these people were in Sumter Co., SC. The following information came off the internet from Ken Hodge( [email protected]). I had saved this from a posting a good while back: Says John Hodge and Frances Davis are parents. Just before 1850 Benjamin and a large group of pioneers left Sumter, SC and moved to Early County, GA, which soon became Calhoun Co. Some of the families that moved to Georgia together were: Dickey, Davis, Plowden, McFadden, Hayes, Strickland, Lawrence, Thigpen, McClary, Boynton. Good hunting.
