I wish to correct something that may mislead someone here. The Battle of
Kettle Creek was fought on February 14, 1779 in modern Wilkes County,
Georgia about 25 miles west of the Savannah River. This site was well
within Georgia at the time it was fought. The border between Georgia and SC
has always been the Savannah River from Savannah to the junction of the
Seneca and Tugaloo River between Anderson SC and Hartwell GA. The border
followed the Seneca River to the NC border in the early days but was moved
to the current border in the early 1780's. The Battle of Kettle Creek was
one of the larger and more important battles to be fought in the State of
Georgie during the Revolutionary War.
