Subject: Barnetts From: Masino, Leonard R Date: January 28, 1998 Debbie, I just read your reply to Bill Allred concerning the Barnetts in Blount and Cullman counties. Thank you very much for posting such detailed information. In your info you mentioned, I believe, every Barnett listed in the census for these two counties except this one: 1880 Census Blount Co., AL 69 69 Issac Barnett 60 Dorcas E. 55 wife James 23 son Charles C. 16 son Did you omit this Isaac because you don't believe him to be connected with your family? This Isaac is my g-g-grandfather. His son James is my g-grandfather. Isaac and Dorcas are buried in South Cemetery in Blountsville. The earliest info I have on Isaac is 1850 census Cherokee Co., NC: 292 Isaac Barnard 27 born SC Darcus E. 25 born SC Nancy E. 1 born SC Next: 1860 census Cherokee Co., NC: 1213 Isaac Barnett 41 born Macon Co., GA Darcus E. 35 Buncombe Co., NC Elizabeth 12 Cherokee Co., NC (probably Nancy E.) Thomas 10 " Darby A. 8 " John 7 " James 3 " Robert 2 " Jane 2/12 " Next: 1870 Murray Co., GA 111 Isaac Barnett 50 born SC Emaline 44 SC Nancy E. 21 " Thomas J. 19 " Darkus Ann 17 " John W. 15 " James P. 14 " Charles C. 6 " Note that Robert and Jane are missing. On the death certificate for James Barnett (1940) it has mother Dorcas Emaline's maiden name as Carroll. There are many Carrolls in the 1880's in Murray Co., GA and particularly in neighboring Gilmer Co. I have been unable to find the parents for Isaac and Dorcas Emaline. I talked with you through email about a year ago and you said you thought our lines connected. Bill Allred also believes my Isaac could be connected. Do you have any new thoughts on this matter. Thanks for reading through this. I will also post this message to the Barnett mail list and apologize that you will receive it twice.
