Dick and Pasty....

Don't forget that I have ties to McClellanville while doing your
searches <>.

I went there last weekend and the town was quiet Sunday afternoon. I
stopped at the Town Hall and asked a police officer where the museum was
and where the town records were kept. I told him I was doing genealogy
work. He then pointed to a man that came from out of the blue and said,
"that's who you need to talk to."

I walked over and met Buddy Hill a genealogist and historian. And of all
the people to run into! He has even done SHOKES research (my family) for
a cousin that I met online! He was there helping to make ready the new
museum for it's opening, hopefully in May during the "Blessing of the
Fleet."

He told me that they will have computers there to do research, and that
they will enter local genealogies and records that can be copied. He's
not on the internet presently (which I suggested). But, may get online
in the future.

Buddy knew things on the history of the town in detail. He even knew of
an elusive g-Grandmother's Indian family that lived near Edisto!! Talk
about "BLESSINGS"! He confirmed the info I had gathered and lead me in
the right direction.

So, if you're interested in McClellanville history and genealogy and for
that fact have an interest in Low-Country history I would suggest
talking with this man. He did mention that he does paid research through
some of the local Genealogical Societies and Libraries. I have his
phone# if anyone is interested, though he's been in McClellanville quite
a bit lately donating his time and effort to the museum project. He
lives in the Charleston area.

This isn't an advertisment, only an impressed woman.

Janet
