Hi Augie,
I don't remember if we have emailed before but I have some questions for
you. I see you have Nathaniel Marion and and Jane McCants on your
Gedcom.
On the 1820 Charleston census Nathaniel is listed as having a large
tract
of land with slaves and living next to Mary Winter Carlile (widow of
Alexander Carlile and gr-daughter of Margarite McCants Winter) and next
to
Margaret Winters Durant (gr-daughter of Margarite). As I recall
Nathaniel
listed about 50 slaves but he and Jane are not there. I believe he is
listed as being in Abbeville and while there he witnessed a Carlile
will. For years I have tried to tie the Williamsburg/Charleston Carliles
together but with little sucess. On the 1790 census of SC there are 7
Carliles and 4 of them are from Abbeville. Can you shed any light on
this subject.
Regards,
Fred Carlile
