I have these few notes in my genealogy program about a Archibald McClellan.
I am interested in a Archibald McClellan that owned land next to my George
McComb in Abbeville District. George & Rebecca McComb came into Charleston
on the Earl of Hillsborough in 1766. They had some land on the Long Cane
Creek in Abbeville District/Old 96th District.. The "Arch" referred to is
Archibald McClellan..

1765 Rebuild Fort Prince George.. Abandon Fort Moore. Voted to build stone
or brick fort to guard southern approach to community on Long Canes &
western approach to 96.. Chose site near mouth of Stevens Creek. (Struggle
for SC Back Country by Robert Bass)

1766 Dec Arch. finishes construction of Fort Charlotte (named for their
young queen). Arch is superintendent under Dr John Murray & Andrew
Williamson. (Struggle for SC Back Country by Robert Bass)

1767 George McComb gets 150 A on the Long Cane bordered SW by Arch's land..

1770 July 19 Patrick Calhoun surveys 100 A for John David. Bordered on NE by
Arch. & George McComb. (George McComb plat)

Could this be the one you are discussing or someone different??

I have an Archibald McClellan that married Ester (Esther) Deschamps.
Their
> daughter Mary Ann married Benjamin DuPre on 12/27/1790. I believe that
the
> McClellen family lived outside Charleston in an area known as St. James
> Santee, SC. Let me know if this fits with you Archibald, if so, I'll
provide
> you with what I have. Fred Hawthorne
