Dear Members,
Recently, I wrote an objection to an e-mail which contained a
direct personal attack on Jane Fonda, not because of who it was but
because it was a direct attack on a living human being. Since it also
contained comments on the war in Vietnam, I replied that it could not
begin to compare to the Civil War in the cost of American lives and
suffering. I also commented on what the Constitution said about
treason.
I received several e-mails--some critical and some complementary.
The critical ones zeroed in on my comments about the Civil War. One was
From Deo Vindice. Here is where my apology begins. I assumed that he
had posted his e-mail to the list and so I posted my reply to the list
under the subject "Some May Call It Treason". I do not apologize for
anything I wrote, but I do apologize for subjecting you to something
which must have been confusing since you had nothing against which to
compare it. I also let myself get carried away on my favorite
subject--history. Again, my apologies.

Sylvia Gant
