Subject: RE: Anderson County Slave Owners From: Tanica Campbell Date: February 18, 2000 I assume that Slave Census are not the same as the regular census? I don't think my library has that. I'll probably have to visit SC. Thanks for the hint! Tanica TLC, IBSSG - Proud owner of 4 rams & 1 ewe! The regular census does list the amount of slaves but the slave census list only slave owners with number of slaves and ages of slaves. I assume that you know that you will not find the slaves listed by name, only by age and I think even by color as to whether black or mulatto. That might be incorrect. It has been quite a while since I looked at a slave census so I have this nagging at me that the last point might not be true. If you want names, try checking wills and also try checking tax returns.
