I assume that Slave Census are not the same as the regular census?  I don't
think my library has that.  I'll probably have to visit SC.  Thanks for the

Did you look at the Slave Census? The regular census does list the amount of

slaves but the slave census list only slave owners with number of slaves and

ages of slaves.
I assume that you know that you will not find the slaves listed by name,
only 
by age and I think even by color as to whether black or mulatto. That might 
be incorrect. It has been quite a while since I looked at a slave census so
I 
have this nagging at me that the last point might not be true. 
If you want names, try checking wills and also try checking tax returns.
THERE IS HISTORY IN OUR ROOTS!!!
