Subject: Re: Anderson County Slave Owners From: Berrynice9 Date: February 17, 2000 The only way I know to do it is to go to the State Archives in Columbia SC. Maybe there is someone willing to go do that lookup for you while they are visiting there. I found tons of slave names on tax returns of people. Interesting too because I was not always able to find the slave named in the will which could mean that that particular slave could have been sold or may have died. I also know that they have a book in the State Archives that list slaves who died. Their names and year of death is in that book. I know there was no listing of their slave owner but if I do remember correctly, there was a last name attached to the slave. THERE IS HISTORY IN OUR ROOTS!!! Sincerely, G.
