I just discovered this book and thought some of the information could be
useful to the List.  I have seen these surnames pop up from time to time:

John Gaines of Townville dressed in Confederae officer's uniform in 1860's

Picture p. 38
C.B. Mahaffey of Townville.  He was born in 1873 and was graduated from
Clemson College in 1898.  His history shows he connected with Nashville,
Mississippi, Louisana, Colorado and died in Dallas, Texas in 1950.

Picture p. 39
Thomas C. Watkins.  He joined the 22nd South Carolina Volunteers.
