The Alamo was fought in about 1833 or 4, Wyatt Earp would not have been
born
for about 30 more years. I think it is pretty well documented that Davy
was
there. Mr.. Travis was the one that was ill, but he stayed and was
slaughtered in his bed.

******************************

The Siege of the Alamo began on Feb. 23, 1836.

The Alamo fell to the Mexican army on March 6, 1836.

Wyatt Earp was born in 1848 and fought at the OK Corral in Tombstone, AZ,
in1881. He died in 1929.

The commander of the Alamo, Col. William B. Travis, is believed to have
died on the walls of the Alamo during the final assault by the Mexican
army.

Col. Jim Bowie died in bed. Some have said he was delerious or unconcious
From his illness when he was killed. One version of the story states he
became ill after fracturing his leg during the early part of the siege.

Col. Davy Crockett died in the fighting. At least one researcher has said
he may have surrendered and was executed but it has not been proven.

We really can't be sure of how or where they died in the fortress since
there were no survivors among the Texas combatants. The civilian survivors
were in hiding and saw little if any of the fighting.

Until proven otherwise, I will carry the Walt Disney image of Fess Parker
as Davy Crockett standing along the ramparts of the Alamo swinging "Ol
Bess" at the oncoming Mexican soldiers.
