To correct spelling and "structure" might be considered "indelicate" and
could upset the author if he/she is one of those who are easily offended.
Everyone has their own manner of doing things, but if it were me, I hope I
would correct only errors in genealogy and then only with the most delicate
of wording.

Doesn't it really depend on what kind of relationship you have with the
author?
