We have a statue of him on Calhoun Street where the old Military College of South Carolina (The Citadel) once held classes. The Calhoun's, Clemson's and Green's are all from South Carolina and most of the Caldwell's and Calhoun's are buried near Upcountry. If this isn't SC History, what is.? It is one of the greater stories because of John C. Calhoun being at one end of the spectrum and Abraham Lincoln being the other of the War. It really started with Calhoun's men and SC seceding from the Union of which Mr. Lincoln was President and Mr. Calhoun being suspected to be his father.
