I live in Rutherford Co, NC, and some people claim that Abe Lincoln was born
near Bostic (NC).  Nancy Hanks was allegedly working for an Enloe family
there and Mr. Enloe got her pregnant, then arranged the marriage to Lincoln.
There is an Enloe family still in the area.
The story was posted on the Internet BlueRidge homepage, I'm not sure if it
is still there (lots of details, including a photo of an Enloe who resembled
Lincoln).
