Manuscript volume, 1828-1831 and 1852-1860, letterbook of the Columbia
mercantile firm of Hunt & Hughes containing verbatim copies of business letters,
28 September 1829 - 19 January 1831, addressed to Messrs. J. & R. Purvis,
chiefly concerning merchant-factor relations. The larger portion of the volume
is given over to Edgefield accounts, 1852-1860, of John H. Hughes for general
merchandise, including several lists of shoes distributed to Negro slaves.
