At first glance, it looks like it reads, "crop cut and whip saws." However, with old handwriting, the actual word is not "crop" but "cross". I don't know if that is the situation in your case. Whenever a double "s" situation occurs in old handwriting, the first "s" is often written like a backward "f". Sometimes it is so closely written near the second "s" that it appears to be a "p" when it is not. Forgive the complicated reply. Hope it helps. A.
