WILL OF John McKenzie IN THE NAME OF GOD, I John Mackenzie of the Province of South Carolina and Parish of St. Jame's Goose-creek Planter being sick In Body but of sound and perfect mind do hereby make this my last Will and Testament. I Give and devise unto my well beloved Wife Sarah Mackenzie and to her Heirs and Assigns forever in Lieu of Dower, Five Thousand pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain to be paid within Twelve Months after my Decease, all my Household Furniture and new Plate lately imported from Mr. John Nutt of London. Also the following Negros Slaves, Betty Hagar and Boy Johnny with their future issue and increase and her choice of any four of my other House Slaves. I Give devise and bequeath to the Present House of Assembly of So. Carolina of which I desire their acceptance all my parliamentary History and Collection of the Debates of the House of Lords and Commons of Great Britian. I Give and Devise all the rest of my Library in the following manner to wit To the present Library Society of Charles Town for the use of the College when erect'd. I Give and Devise One thousand pounds Sterling Money to be paid by my Executors hereafter nam'd towards the building and Endowment of said College as soon as a law in past'd by the Legislature for that purpose. I Give and Devise to the three sons of John Parker to wit John Thomas and Charles Daniel Parker and their Heirs and Assigns forever Five hundred pounds Currency each and I do hereby authorize and empower my, Executors in the most full ample manner to dispose of a publick Vendue or otherwise all or any part of my Estate real or personal for the payment of all my Just Debts and Legacys and that the Interest due on all my Book Debts be also fully paid and satisfied I Give and Devise unto my Nephew William Stoutenburgh, and to his Heirs and Assigns forever all the rest and residue of my Estate that I now possess or may hereafter be entitled to on Condition nevertheless that he pays annually unto my kinsman Arthur Delaney the Sum of Three Hundred and fifty pounds Currency during Life. And Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my friends Thomas Smith Senr., the Honourable Peter Manigault Esqr., John Parker, William Stoutenburgh and Roger Smith Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
