Revolutionary War battle fought August 16, 1780 near Camden, South Carolina.
General Cornwallis was the leader of the British and General Gates the
Americans. General Gates and his Army were defeated in the battle and where
Baron DeKalb later died as a result of wounds.

Research file includes aerial photographsof Kershaw Cornwallis house,
photocopies of letter from Cornwallis to Dansey (1780), maps, typed copy of a
letter from Cornwallis to Germain as published in the Gazette Extraordinary,
Charleston News & Courier, Charleston, S.C. (June 1, 1876) about Hobkirk's Hill,
copies of pages of The Century Book of the American Revolution, 1964 newspaper
clipping showing the Delaware Regiment uniform, 1930 article about the old
battleground, Muster roll of Capt. Kirkwood's Regiment, photocopies and typed
affidavits from Tennessee regarding participants in the battle and newspaper
clippings..
