In memory of Walter Johnstone, Maxwelltown, early converted to the redeemer, he with joy spent a long life in his service in walks both public and private, usefulness he entered into his rest Jan.30 1840, in the 74 th. year of his age. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me write, blessed are the dead who died in the Lord. Yea saith the spirit that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them. Also Agnes Carlyle his wife born April 9 th. 1770, died Jan.24 th.1857, a wife and a mother indeed.

In memory of William Francis Johnstone, son of Walter Johnstone and Agnes Carlyle, born March 16 th. 1811, died March 4 th.1882. He followed Jesus through grace in well doing and was held in much honour as one who was faithful. Also Margaret born June 11 th. 1851 died Oct. 16th. 1855. Henrietta born March 10 th.1854, died Oct. 19 th.1855, daughters of the above. Also Margaret Paterson Johnstone, wife of the above born at Edinburgh, May 24th. 1821, died in Dumfries, March 31 st. 1883. Christ's perfect blood that cleanseth was all her entrance plea, and so shall she ever be with the Lord.
