Dear Betty,

Sorry I haven't written before this, but I have been busy on my genealogy research. I have been goin down to the Miami Library and I couldn't find anymore on Duke William Horne. I was about to give up and yesterday I found his Maternal Grandparents wills in "Abstracts of Wills Edgecombe Co., N.C." His grandmother was Patience Barnes and Grandfather was Willimson Barnes and Patience's mother and father were William and Sarah Amason I believe. Also Duke William Horne's mother was Tabitha I believe. I want to go back and study the wills more, but this is what I believe to be true, but no mention of his father. I also found wills for Edmund Blount where his father was Edmund Blount and his grandfather was Benjamin Blount he married ( Edmund, Jr. ) Mary Hoskins daughter of Thomas. Little by little I am gathering more info on them. I'll wait until I get more before I send this on to you unless you want what I have now. I found out also that Peter Payne Lawrence married two more times after Martha McCotter and I also found his will. Let me know what you want me to do mail what I have or wait.

I have several questions: Where did you get all of your information you have? Was Sallie Horne and Edward Norris divorced> You have her marrying him May 13, 1889 and him dying Oct. 24, 1920. But you have John Robert Rogers as her 2nd husband and he didn;t die till June 2, 1918. You have Whitmell died Feb. 11, 1839. Who was he? My grandfather died 1-1-1939. But I found a Whitmell in Patience Barnes's dated July 5, 1818. No mentioning of him as a grandson, but she mentioned Duke William Horn as a grandson and Harriet Horn as granddaughter, "Whitmell Horn, all residue of estate to be his for the purpose of raising and educating him."   "In case of his death before maturity to revert to his sister, Harriet. " Than I saw where Whitmell was the son of William & Elizabeth Horn. So I am lost unless Harriet and Whitmell were brother & sister and Duke Wm. was a cousin, but in Williamson Barnes' will he only mentioned 1 daughter and one grandson: Duke Sm. Horn, but his will was in 1814 & wife's in 1818 and two more children could have been born in the meantime as Duke was born in 1808 I believe.

Also on top of Page you Have Birmingham, Alambama. Where does that come in do you know? I hate to ask so many questions, but I don't know where or how you got your info and every little bit counts. It is like one big puzzle. I am making up a book on all of the info I get. My cousin has made one up by ordering forms from Everton Publishing Co. in Utah and I hope to have a book to hand down to my children. My husband is working on his line also. I just joined the U.D.C. and have my papeers in for the D.A.R.

I hope this finds you well and let me hear from you.

Love,
Lucille
