I'm searching for information about William L. Johns, born in GA in 1802.  His father was a Virginian and was one of the pioneers of Georgia.  William's father died in Georgia when William was seven years old.  William moved to Mississippi  to live with relatives.  He married Rachel Courtney and they had several children.  One, Col. Benjamin Franklin Johns, a lawyer, was elected to the office of probate judge in 1866.  He was elected to the legislature of Mississippi and in 1880 was chosen Speaker of the House.  Joanne Barnes  Email   WebPage
