Stanislaus TOMASIEWICZ and (1) Tekla nee KULA and (2) Anna nee URIASZ

The centennial book for Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Krakow, Nance County, Nebraska, has a brief biography of the Stanislaus TOMASIEWICZ family.

The biography indicates that Stanislaus was a son of Joseph TOMASIEWICZ and Frances nee SMOLEN.  He was born 29 March 1833 in Leki Gorne, Galicia.  He first married Tekla KULA, a daughter of Anton KULA and Mary nee TORCZON, on 16 November 1864.  Tekla was born14 September 1839.

Two sons were born to Stanislaus and Tekla.  Thomas was born 7 December 1866 and John, who died on 3 June 1865, about three months after his birth.  Tekla died 21 January 1869 in Poland.

Stanislaus then married Anna nee URIASZ on 12 September 1869.  Two children, John and Mary, were born to them.  Stanislaus and his family, along with several other families from this area, left Poland on the German ship S. S. Harmonia (Hammonia), arriving at the Port of New York on 14 June 1876.  They arrived in Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska, on 18 June.

Stanislaus and Anna lived around Duncan in Platte County.  They later lived in Merrick County.  They were memebers of Krakow Church.  Stanislaus died 5 January 1912.  Anna died 24 April 1909.  They are both buried in the Krakow Cemetery.  Their names are included on a Memorial in the Krakow Cemetery for folks who are buried in unmarked graves.

TRAGARZ, Charles / Stanislaus       Married Marge's Grandaunt Anna KUDRON  More about my KUDRON Family

My paternal grandmother was Martha KUDRON GALUS.  Charles TRAGARZ married Martha's sister Anna on 14 Feb 1922 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Krakow, Nance County, Nebraska.  Both Martha and Anna were born in the Village of Leki Gorne, Galicia, Poland.  Since the surname TRAGARZ is also found in the parish records, I wondered if Charles was also from Leki Gorne.  After I received a copy of the TRAGARZ-KUDRON marriage license naming Charles' parents,  I checked the microfilmed records of Leki Gorne Parish, but did not find anyone who seemed to fit.  There had been some discussion on the NEPLATTE genealogy list about the numerous instances of the name Charles and Stanislaus being used interchangeably by the men who immgrated from Poland.  While working on another TRAGARZ individual, I checked my genealogy file for a Stanislaus TRAGARZ whose birthdate might be close to Uncle Charlie's.  I found a Stanislaus TRAGARZ whose date of birth matched the one I had for Charles TRAGARZ who married my grandaunt, and whose parents names matched those entered on his marriage record.  In tracking his line back I also found that Stanislaus aka Charles was a distant cousin, related to me through my KOTLARZ line.
