CIUREJ

E-mail from Lenore dated 19 Jul 2014:
I read with interest your success at finding Dawid Ciurej’s ancestors in 2006.  [see CIUREJ]
I’m related to a lot of the Ciurej’s in Omaha, NE, but I’m having a hard time locating information on my grandmother, Mary Ann (Ciurej) Stanoch.

In a subsequent e-mail Lenore provided these details:

I have the LDS microfilms for the Parish of Łękawica / Lekawica on extended loan from the Family Search Library.  The are stored at the downtown Omaha W. Dale Clark Library in the microfilm room on the 3rd floor.

I checked the birth/baptisms looking for a record for Mary Ann nee CIUREJ dated 18 Sep 1885; I did not find one.  This parish kept indexes of the records.  These are the entries for Mariannas in the 1885 time period - the notes in brackets are from the actual birth record:

Lekawica Birth Index
Ciurej, Marianna d/o Martinus and Cathar.; 1883, 27 October; Lekawica, page 27
Ciurej, Marianna d/o Joannes and Anna [nee Budzik]; 1884, 7 February; Lekawica, page 29
Ciurej, Marianna d/o Laurentius and Maria [nee Jasica]; 1885, 8 April; Lekawica, page 40
Ciurej, Maria., d/o Adalbert and Maria [nee Wzorek]; 1886, 24 May; Lekawica, page 42 [Note on baptism record says Marianna married Martinus Ostrowski, 11 May 1910]

I had John CIUREJ and his wife Kate in my genealogy file from prior CIUREJ research.  The birth date on his tombstone is 26 Jul 1890, however his World War I draft registration gave his birth date as 24 Jul 1889.  I found a birth record in the Lekawica film for a Joannes CIUREJ born 24 Jul 1889.

I also had Barbara CIUREJ LENCZOWSKI in my file from prior research.  The date of birth on her tombstone is 5 Jan 1895; I found her birth record in the Lekawica parish for that date.

Both Joannes and Barbara were illegitimate children of Anna CIUREJ, a daughter of Joannes CIUREJ and Marianna nee CIUREJ.  The name of the father(s) is not entered on these records.

It is still possible that Mary Ann CIUREJ STANOCH is a half sibling of John and Barbara.  She could have been born elsewhere.  Further research is needed.

Following are details that I have found for Mary Ann CIUREJ STANOCH and for John and Barbara's CIUREJ family.
