Mrs. Anna Sokol Dies Here, Was Injured in Fall

Mrs. Anna Sokol, 84, passed away at 6:30 a.m. this morning at the Lutheran hospital. She fell and broke her hip New Year's Day at the nursing home in St. Edward, where she had been a patient four months. Funeral arrangements are pending.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kudron, she was born in May 1863, at Tarnov, Poland. She grew to womanhood there and on Nov. 2, 1885, was united in marriage to Louis Sokol in Tarnov. They came to the United States in 1897 and settled on a farm in Platte County. They also farmed in Nance county, retiring in 1926 to move to Silver Creek to make their home. Mr. Sokol passed away April 16, 1938 and Mrs. Sokol came to Columbus to make her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Sokol.

She was a member of St. Bonaventure church.

Mrs. Sokol was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one brother and is survived by two sons, John of Columbus and Anton of Los Angeles and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Opella of Chicago, 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Sokol Services--Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Sokol, who died Tuesday morning, will be held at 9 a.m. at the St. Bonaventure church with Rev. Fr. Albert officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery in Silver Creek. The body will be taken from the Gahan Funeral home at 5 p.m. today to the home of her son, John Sokol, at 2819 Tenth street. Friends and relatives will pray the rosary at 8:30 p.m. tonight.
