With deepest gratitude
to my cousin Roman,
Marge / Małgosia |
In June 2003 I received an e-mail from
Roman Witek who
lives in Poland. (I live in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.) Roman had found my
webpage through a Google search. After browsing my genealogy webpages,
he wrote to say that we have a surname in common in our family
histories. Both of our SZTORC families were part of the Church parish
of Łęki Górne, Podkarpackie, Poland. I was not able
to connect our two
SZTORC lines as yet, but I found that Roman and I are fourth cousins
through our PAPROCKI lineage. Serendipity. Since our meeting, Roman has
been sending me photographs of the Podlesie - Łęki
Górne area and has
given me permission to present them on my webpage. Below are thumbnail
links to the larger photographs. You can begin with the first
photograph or anywhere you choose. Navigation links from each page
allow you to go on to the next or previous photo in the series or to
return to this page. |
Łęki Górne,
Łęki
Dolne
Here are more photographs of the Łęki
Górne / Leki Gorne and Łęki Dolne / Leki Dolne area. While
this entire gallery is primarily comprised of photographs sent to me by
my cousin Roman, this next album includes photos taken by me (Marge
Galus Sandlier), during my first trip to Poland in June 2004. I met,
face-to-face, my dear cousin Roman, and we stood together on the steps
of the Church of our ancestors in Łęki Górne - takes my breath
away
just thinking about it. Roman sent several photographs last year of the
fair at St. Bartholomew's Church in Łęki Górne. In 2002 I "met"
through
my webpage a young woman and her husband, Grażyna and Marek, who were
born in Łęki Górne, and now live in Canada. They sent me several
photographs of Łęki Górne that I have included in this album.
Dziękuję bardzo. Marge.

Borzysławiec
Borzysławiec / Borzyslawiec, Zachodniopomorskie,
Poland -
Formerly Luisenthal,
Naugard, Prussia, was the birthplace of my maternal grandfather, Adolph
George THOMAS. Adolph immigrated with his parents Ferdinand and Agnes
SCHNECK THOMAS to Nebraska in the United States in July 1893. Surnames
of my family from this area: HASE/HAASE, KÖHLER, MARX, SENFT,
SCHNECK,
THOMAS - related by marriage to the DOLLERSCHELL family, some of whom
also immigrated to Nebraska. My cousin Roman took these photographs for
me, while he was on a business trip in the Szczecin area.
