of Łukow - about 120 kilometers east of Warsaw. Up to now I
found out that my ancestor Jakob Tomasiewicz was born in 1797 in a
village of Czersl. There are about 1300 persons of this name registered
in Poland scattered about the country. The main concentrations however
are: area
of Warsaw (100), area of Siedlce (180) Tarnow(370). I found several
persons in the USA whom I am going to

I was surprised to see all the names in your records with which I am familiar and that go back to Pilzo and Tarnov Poland. I am related to Tworek, Czarnik, and Ziemba families all from the Genoa area. Also Kudron, I believe, through my grandmother Felicia(Czarnik) Swantek. I have been an inactive researcher for nearly a decade - as my three children and two jobs seem to give me not a moment to spare. Nonetheless, occasionally I steal a moment to look around the internet and print a few gems to follow up on "when I have time." I am collecting quite a treasure trove! My husband's mother (Iva Lydia Scates Shelton, daughter of Charles Edward Scates) just passed away Sept 5, 2007, and this prompted me to revisit her line - and find you! |

Comments: | HI Marge, What a wonderful job you have done with this website. Your extensive information I think has lead me to find who my great grandparents were. I believe I am the granddaughter of Walter Stortz, son of Andrew and Catherine who died in his early 20's. We are all from Chicago and reside in the Chicagoland area. My Grandma was pregnant with Walter's child (my father) when Walter died. I dont believe they were ever married or even a long relationship as far as I know, therefore it has been such a mystery what the heritage on my fathers side is. Since discovering your website, I have found that we are of Polish descent. You have helped solve a personal mystery of mine. We have never had any relationship with Stortz side of the family and I am so thankful for the information you have provided. Feel free to write me with more information or if you would like to retrieve any information from us. Thanks so much! Valerie Reimer (Stortz) |

He and his brother settled in Connecticut in the early part of the 20th century. There are still many of the family in those regions which is made up of rolling hills covered in wheat fields. Both Dulczowka and Leki Dolne are small, small places basically hamlets of Pilzno. Pilzno itself is small - a marketsquare, with about 2-4 rows of houses around it before giving way to fields again. There are storks all around which roost on roofs especially chimneys. It is about an hour and a half drive east from Krakow. M. Sophia Uryasz Massachusetts |

Surnames I am researching | Taraborrelli, Natale ((taly) Drach (Germany) |
Comments: | Bruce, Your website has been beautifully presented. I'm working with World Tree Maker, using Ancestry.com, Italian Genology Online, and everything (!) in between. I hope my website, when I'm ready to prepare it, is as attractive as yours. I wish I had access to more family pictures. You really get a connection with the people behind the names. I especially enjoyed your memorials for your cats. We've had two that lived until 18 and 14 years, and our currtent cat is jet black and is around 6 years old. My youngest named him "Cauldren" which raises a few eyebrows! Thank you for sharing! Shirley Taraborrelli Johnson |

Surnames I am researching | Sudyka, Handzel, Reczkowska, Pietek |
My webpage URL | none |
Comments: | My great great grandfather was Michal Sudyka who was born in Dulczowka in 1843. He married Marianna Handzel in the St. Bartholomew Church in 1871. Marianna's mother I believe was Marianna Reczkowska. So far that's all I have. Your pictures of the church were amazing. I have shared them with my family. Michal's son Bartholomew left from Prague for America sometime after 1904. In New York, they changed their name to Sudd. My grandfather Frank settled in Chicago in the early 1930's. He had 3 sons. |

How I found this page | I was looking for pictures of Łęki Górne |
Comments: | I live in Cracow, Poland. I was living in Łęki Górne few years ago. When I was looking for the pictures and informations I found your site. I think it's great. I love the idea of looking for your family's roots. All the names sounds so nice to me: like Paprocki or Kudron (I think you should put "ń" at the end, because it's probably Kudroń), because they are common in my childhood's village. Your photos are so beautiful... Thanks for your site! |
