Nicholas was born ca 1666 in Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island. In 1690, he married Elizabeth Audley, daughter of John & Martha (Holmes) Audley. Elizabeth was born about 1664 in Newport, Rhode Island and died after December 29, 1747 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. They were in Dartmouth as late as 1713 and in Tiverton, Rhode Island as early as 1728. Nicholas died August 14, 1747 at age 81 in Tiverton. His will was date March 11, 1747 and proved September 7, 1747. The executor was his son Thomas. To wife Elizabeth, household goods, live stock, money and bonds for life, and at her death, what is left to go as follows: To sons Hugh, Joseph, Thomas and Nicholas, 5s. each. To daughter Mary Allen, a case of drawers. To granddaughter Sarah Pope, a bed. To five daughters and granddaughter Sarah Pope, the rest of estate, bonds and money left at decease of wife, viz: To Mary Allen, Elizabeth Tripp, Mercy Shrieve, Rebecca Wilcox, Margaret Taber, and granddaughter Sarah Pope. (The will was made at Dartmouth, but proved at Tiverton.) The inventory totaled £372, 4s., 4d., viz: books, pewter, 2 beds, wheels, 2 cows, swine, bonds, warming pan, stillyards, etc. Please send e-mail to Sam Behling.
