George Martin

George was born in Chebacco (Essex), Massachusetts on September 17, 1679/80 and died in Windham, Connecticut on August 15, 1755. He first married Anne Choate and their marriage intentions were published September 25, 1706. Their marriage at Chebacco was performed by Rev. John Wise on November 29, 1706. Ann, daughter of John Choate and Elizabeth (____), was born in Chebacco after May 1690 and died before 1709.

After Anne's death, George married secondly Mercy Durkee on June 4, 1709 at Ipswich, Massachusetts. Mary died at Windham, Connecticut on August 1, 1730. After her death, George married for the third time to Mercy Lincoln on November 5, 1730 at Windham.

George evidently resided in Ipswich (Chebecca), MA, the place of his birth, until after the birth of his first child, Elizabeth. Sometime previous to 1710 he moved to Windham, Connecticut, as the records there give the birth in that town of Mercy and also of his other children born later, as well as the marriage to his third wife, Mercy Lincoln. Thus Windham, CT became the established home of this branch of the Martin family for more than a century.

The will of George Martin of Windham, in which mention is made of "wife Mercy, son George, four daughters: Elizabeth Preston, Mary Leach, Sarah Marsh, and Anna Stoel," was dated March 9, 1750, and proved September 3, 1755.

I'd be happy to exchange family information.
