The Hutchinsons, originally from Alford, co. Lincolnshire, England, were a well-respected family of early New England, both in the MA Bay Colony and later in Portsmouth, RI. They were also involved in a great deal of religious controversy stemming from William Hutchinson's wife, Anne who opposed the religious leaders of Boston.
