The original spelling of this surname was "Hore" and they came from Chagford, co. Devonshire, England. This line can be traced back to Richard Le Hore of the 1300s. His 9th great grandson, Hezekiah Hoar came to America and settled first in Scituate, MA, then removed to Taunton where he was a prominent citizen. |
