Kirk was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on July 12, 1863 just a week or so afterand just a few miles north ofthe Battle of Gettysburg. Kirk died at age 79 on February 16, 1942 while visiting his daughter, Minnie in Craig, Colorado. On November 22, 1885, Kirk married Eliza (Doll) Mabel Bryant in Iowa. Doll, the daughter of John Bryant & Chloe Leaming, was born April 25, 1865 in Minburn, Dallas County, Iowa and died at age 65 in Des Moines, Iowa on September 4, 1930. Kirk & Doll had 3 children, all daughters: Minnie, Maple and Vira.

Kirk's Sister Lizzie, oldest daughter of Elias & Mary Hiney, was born March 19, 1857 in Millerstown, Perry County, Pennsylvania and died at age 65 on March 13, 1923 in Minburn, Dallas County, Iowa. Lizzie & Oscar Bever were married October 19, 1884 in Dallas County, Iowa. Oscar, the third of six children of John B. Bever & Elizabeth Richards, was born January 29, 1851 in Adel, Dallas County, Iowa and died aged 81 on July 15, 1942 in Minburn. Lizzie & Oscar had just two children, both sons: Clarence Earl & Charles (Charlie) R. Bever.

Kirk's Brother Worth, the oldest surviving son of Elias & Mary Hiney, was born November 5, 1851 in Pennsylvania. It is not known where or when he died. He was married twice, first to Sarah (____) by whom he had two children: Archie and Clarence. By his second wife, Vi, Worth had 3 children: Doris, Richard & Marie.
