Barnabas Davis of Tetbury, Gloucestershire, England must have been a man of exceptional business ability, for in 1635 he was retained by William Woodcock of Tewksbury as an agent to manage his real estate interests in England and in America. On July 13, 1635, "Barnabie Davies," aged 36, enrolled at London for passage to New England on the ship Blessing. Barnabas's travels were remarkable for the time, for not only did he cross the Atlantic on the Blessing, he subsequently crossed the ocean four more times between 1635 and 1640.
